Office Wait Times

We want your wait time to be as short as possible. We schedule routine visits as 20 minutes and physical exams as 40 minutes. Please come at least 15 minutes early to allow check in time. New patients or returning patients with new insurance should come 20 minutes early to fill out the endless paperwork we must require- remember that these forms are available for download from our web site. When a patient is late, we either have to be rude and not see them, or allow our entire schedule to be thrown off. Even under ideal circumstances, unexpectedly complex patients require more time.

As co-pays and deductibles have risen, there has been an understandable increase in patients bringing lists of problems to discuss. Please prioritize so that we can complete our business in 20 minutes. Remember that if you have chronic diseases that we are managing there must be time for that as well. It is unreasonable to think that more than 2 or at most 3 new problems can be adequately addressed in 20 minutes. Please organize.

Physical exams, on the other hand, are not meant to be problem solving sessions (Dr. Minter and Dr. Coney differ somewhat on this point since Dr. Coney has more chronic disease management). The complete physical exam is a chance to look at all family history, health habits, and social issues to tailor your individual health maintenance plan. Please expect that identified problems will require a follow-up visit for proper diagnosis and management.
